ER Visit? Don't Expect Your Insurance or Even Medicare to Pay for it
Here's a disturbing trend in Emergency Room Care. Recent changes in the law allow your insurance carrier to deny payment for your trip to the Emergency Room.
You feel chest pain, so you head to the Emergency Room, but it turns out to be indigestion. Should you be on the hook for all the medical bills? Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield now denies payment for ER visits for some customers if it's determined they didn't actually have a medical emergency. The insurer says it wants to encourage treatment in the right setting. Is it fair?
